As 2014 winds down, I personally have much for which to be thankful.
I met some great people this year and wrote quite a few resumes and cover letters for people in the following industries: healthcare, engineering, electronics, aerospace, administrative, sales, marketing, telecommunications, education, government and entertainment. My life has been enriched by the plethora of people that I met who do different things than I.
But everyone had this in common:
1) They wanted or needed a resume.
2) They were searching for employment or better employment.
3) They all have a unique set of skills.
4) They all have their own individual story.
5) They were all very interesting in their own way.
6) They lived in the United States, albeit in different sections, regions and states.
One of the joys that come from writing people’s resumes in the opportunity to get to know them through the process, or at least the employment side of their personalities. But in discussing employment, people inevitably delve into their personal lives. Some of them really open up to me while others are very protective of their information, which can make writing their resume a challenge.
As a Resume Writer, my job is to give the best presentation on an individual as possible; to enhance the person’s working background to the point where they will receive an interview or a phone screen at the very least. If I have done my job correctly and they have applied for the proper positions based on their skill sets, interviews and phone screens should be available. The thing to remember is that it only takes one company who responds to your resume to hire you.
2015 holds great promise. The economy seems to be improving. Gasoline prices are at the lowest levels that they have been in years. I believe people will be on the move and venture out to see if they can find employment or better employment.
