The start of a new year brings focus to many. You may have been thinking about a change in employment for various reasons, but did not want to pursue it until the beginning of the new year.
Real change requires focus to change.
A new job search represents real change. But to affect that real change requires focus and commitment. The best way to commit to a new job search is resolving to spend a minimum of 15 minutes a day on the search for 30 consecutive days, weekends included. Why 30 days? This does several things for you:
1) 30 consecutive days will help you form the habit of diligence. Search for a posting where you meet all the criteria and submit your resume. You will find that after 6 or 7 days, it will be difficult to find such a posting.
2) This habit will keep your job search in the forefront of your mind (not that you would forget), which means that you would not be caught off guard or by surprise if someone called you unexpectedly.
3) You will always be applying to the latest job postings because you are online each day.
4) You will sharpen your focus.
This can be an exciting new chapter in your life.
